Andrew Cuomo Pays Polling Firm to Determine if Another Run is Feasible
Andrew Cuomo PAYS Polling Firm
According to a New York Post story, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s campaign account paid a polling firm around $68,000 earlier this year to assess the viability of Cuomo’s running for office again.
Cuomo paid polling company Expedition Strategies $67,739 on January 20 for “polling costs,” according to a record filed with the state Board of Elections by the Friends of Andrew Cuomo campaign committee. Cuomo resigned in disgrace in August 2021 amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
The Post claims that the former governor had already employed the polling company in 2022.
Cuomo was a political outsider in the months following his resignation, but he has since launched his podcast, established a pro-Israel organization that has produced advertisements criticizing pro-Hamas demonstrators, and given speeches at churches and civic associations.
According to political insiders who spoke with the Post, Cuomo has been pursuing support by courting the Black and Jewish communities in New York City and by maintaining important union links around the state.
Former state senator and councilman Rev. Ruben Diaz declared, “I think he’s running for mayor.” “I just have that feeling.”
After Cuomo departed office, Diaz—who formerly supported President Donald Trump—arranged for the Democrat to address his group of Bronx Hispanic preachers.
While Cuomo is keeping his options open, former Brooklyn Democrat leader Frank Seddio stated that if New York City Mayor Eric Adams is running for reelection, Cuomo probably won’t run for mayor.
Seddio, who is good friends with both candidates, told the Post that Andrew is the front-runner if Eric withdraws from the race.
Seddio claims that Cuomo has “political ambitions” that might reach far beyond New York’s state and metropolitan boundaries.
“I believe his ultimate goal is to run for president,” stated Seddio.
Seddio, referring to the late former governor Mario Cuomo, stated, “I’ve known Andrew since he was a teenager — when I ran his father Mario’s 1977 campaign for mayor in Brooklyn.”
“Andrew is one of the most brilliant people in politics,” he stated. “The brilliant people in politics are also the most difficult.”
Cuomo may run for mayor, a source close to him told the Post, regardless of Adams’ intentions.
According to the insider, “He’s looking at it very seriously.” “He desires a return to public life. He believes he can save the city and believes it is in danger.”
In addition to the allegations of sexual harassment, Cuomo faced criticism during his term in office for enacting the controversial cashless bail bill and placing recuperating COVID-19 victims in nursing homes during the height of the pandemic.
Cuomo’s representative refrained from commenting on his survey results, citing remarks the outgoing governor made most recently on “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“Are you running for mayor or governor?” Maher queried.
“There will be no direct answer, I just want you to know,” Cuomo stated. “I have no current plans to make plans.”
