Father loses rights to stop son’s medical changes

In a recent development, a California court has delivered a devastating blow to Jeffrey Younger, permanently removing his parental rights over his twin sons, James and Jude. This ruling empowers his former spouse, Anne Georgulas, to proceed with both chemical and surgical transition procedures for their 12-year-old son James, despite his father’s opposition.

The controversy began when Georgulas, a pediatrician, initiated James’s gender transition process when he was merely two and a half years old. Though Younger has persistently fought to protect his child, his efforts have been thwarted by both Texas and California courts.

A particularly concerning video emerged showing James at age three, where he identified as a girl, stating his mother had told him so. The situation reportedly escalated after James showed interest in a ‘Frozen’ toy traditionally marketed to girls.

Adding to Younger’s struggles, he was ordered to pay $5,000 monthly for his son’s transition-related expenses and counseling, plus a $10,000 counselor retainer. While a 2019 Dallas jury initially granted equal custody, and Texas courts initially blocked unilateral transition decisions, California’s status as a “sanctuary state” nullified these protections.

“The Supreme Court of Texas denied my Mandamus, effectively terminating my parental rights. My children are now subject to being chemically castrated in California. Texas is an empire of child abuse, led by Texas judges,” Jeffrey Younger said.

Recent developments saw Judge Mark Juhas attempting to hold Younger in contempt after an unsuccessful imprisonment attempt in August 2024. The dispute intensified when Georgulas filed a motion citing psychologist Brigid Mariko Conn’s statement about James’s interest in transition procedures.

Younger’s friend, Connor Tomlinson, detailed the legal battles’ progression, noting that case documents became increasingly difficult to access, with the Los Angeles Superior Court claiming to have lost files in a ransomware attack.

In his final statement on X, Younger wrote: “I lost all parental rights to my sons. Goodbye, boys. Perhaps, we will meet when you are adults. California Judge Juhas gave my ex-wife authority to castrate my son, James. All contact with my boys must be supervised. I won’t do that. I send letters and gifts to my sons.”

Addressing supervised visitation, Younger explained his refusal, stating such arrangements harm children by suggesting paternal danger and provide courts with potentially manipulative material, while also incurring substantial costs exceeding $2,000 per visit in Los Angeles County.
