Irish Teacher ARRESTED For Believing In “Female-Only Spaces” And Refusing Trans Policies

An Irish teacher, Enoch Burke, has been arrested just one week after further protesting his school’s transgender policy that he first raised concerns about two years ago.

Burke had refused to comply with an order from Broward Schools that they refer to a transgender student’s preferred name and pronoun.

On Monday Ireland’s National Police, An Garda Síochána took Burke into custody outside his employer, Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath where he worked as a teacher of history and German. He was moved to Mountjoy Prison.

His brother Josiah, who manages Burke’s X account later posted the footage of the arrest. Burke can be heard saying in the video, “I’m not going to turn my back on my students,” as he is loaded into a police car.

“I have a right to my job. I have a right to work here. I have a right to be here, and I refuse to tell kids they need puberty blockers,” Burke fired back. He also denounced the arresting officers, saying “You don’t have a duty to do what’s wrong.”

Later the same day a judge ordered Burke be remanded in custody for breaching an order to stay away from school grounds once term began at his east Belfast primary last month. Last month, Burke demonstratively scoffed and shrugged when the judge offered to release him on his own recognizance if he promised to obey an injunction — but Burke didn’t quite give a yes-or-no answer to that.

Burke’s case, The Irish Times said, is to be reviewed again on October 11. He will be remanded in custody until that point.

Newsweek reported that Burke has grievances going all the way back to September 2022, when he was suspended with pay for not using a transgender students’ preferred name and pronouns in his classroom.

He was first sent to prison for “contempt of court” when he broke a High Court injunction not to enter the school premises while they carried out an investigation into disciplinary action, which he had said simply could not ‘in conscience’ follow. He was incarcerated until December 2022.

But then, in September 2023, Burke breached the court order again and was arrested and incarcerated for a second time. He was freed in June during the school’s recess but then detained again on Monday when he came back to enter the institution.
