Media critic accidentally added to Trump team’s secret chat survives

Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief known for his strong anti-Trump stance, recently revealed he was mistakenly included in a confidential Signal group chat where senior Trump administration officials were discussing military strategies against Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi terrorists.

Goldberg, previously known for publishing the controversial and later discredited “suckers and losers” story prior to the 2020 election, found himself privy to conversations involving high-ranking officials including National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance in what was dubbed the “Houthi PC small group.”

Rather than removing himself from the conversation upon realizing the error, Goldberg chose to document the exchange, capturing screenshots and subsequently publishing details about the planned military operation.

In his published account, Goldberg acknowledged that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was responsible for adding him to the exclusive group of Trump officials.

This serious security lapse by Waltz has raised significant questions about his judgment and competence. The incident’s severity has led many to question whether this was an inadvertent error or something more deliberate.

AXIOS reported Tuesday morning about Waltz’s likely survival of this controversy.

“We don’t care what the media says,” a Trump adviser said. “We can easily handle what would kill any other administration. This will blow over.”

A senior White House official added: “Trump certainly wasn’t pleased with this. But all this talk you see about Waltz not lasting is just way premature. There’s a Washington feeding frenzy. And we all know that you don’t give the mob what it wants.”

However, questions persist about how one of the media’s most prominent Trump critics gained access to a restricted communication channel with top administration officials. The incident has led to calls for Waltz to provide a detailed explanation, with numerous qualified and loyal Trump supporters potentially available to assume his role if necessary.
