Arrest and Charges

Darian Christine Rogers, a 22-year-old student teacher, stands accused of engaging in an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student. The charge categorizes as a second-degree felony. Her arrest follows the uncovering of details about the alleged relationship at a grocery store they both frequented as employees before her position at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas.

A peer raised the alarm to authorities in April, claiming “personal knowledge” of the events that spurred this investigation. Additionally, a revealing voicemail from Rogers admitting to sending explicit photos was obtained by the police.

Admissions and Evidence

The alleged 17-year-old victim initially downplayed their involvement but later conceded after being confronted with text messages exchanged with Rogers discussing the Plan B contraceptive pill. Although Rogers initially denied sexual conduct, she later admitted to a single incident in a parking lot setting.

Text message logs revealed potential prior relationships with another 17-year-old student. Additionally, on her phone, evidence of the Plan B pill further compounded the severity of her actions.

School’s Response and Legal Proceedings

Rouse High School responded swiftly after learning about the situation, as principal Vincent Hawkins declared, “The individual was not a Leander ISD or Rouse High School employee and was immediately removed from campus once the district was made aware of the situation.” Rogers was promptly dismissed from her teaching duties and released from jail on a $20,000 bond.

“The individual was not a Leander ISD or Rouse High School employee and was immediately removed from campus once the district was made aware of the situation” – Vincent Hawkins.

The district is actively cooperating with law enforcement as the legal process continues. A pre-indictment docket hearing is scheduled on June 4. Meanwhile, communication with the Texas Education Agency and Rogers’ university program has been established, although the exact institution remains undisclosed.
