Congresswoman spreads false information about Trayvon Martin case
Listen To Story Above
Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty from Ohio sparked controversy on Thursday morning with an inaccurate social media post about Trayvon Martin’s death, which she quickly deleted.
The congresswoman incorrectly stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Martin was a victim of police brutality and claimed his death was connected to racial violence in America.
While the post was swiftly removed, Breitbart News managed to capture evidence of the misleading statement.
Oh, look. It's another democrat playing the race card. Clearly, it was a case of self-defense. What's the point in raising this matter after 17 years?

The actual events from 2012 tell a different story. Martin lost his life during a physical confrontation with George Zimmerman, who was serving as a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Florida.
According to witness accounts, the altercation escalated when Martin gained the upper hand over Zimmerman, repeatedly striking him and slamming his head against the ground. Zimmerman responded by retrieving his firearm from his waistband and fatally shooting Martin in the chest.

The physical evidence supported Zimmerman’s version of events. While Martin’s body showed only the gunshot wound and scraped knuckles from striking Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman suffered significant injuries including cuts, two black eyes, and a fractured nose.
In the subsequent legal proceedings, Zimmerman maintained he acted in self-defense. Although prosecutors pursued second-degree murder charges against him, a jury ultimately found him not guilty.
