Democrats Storm ICE Facility to Defend… Who Exactly?
In the latest episode of “Democrats Gone Wild,” elected officials and activists decided to storm an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, apparently believing they were standing up for innocent victims of an unjust immigration system. Instead, they found themselves advocating for the release of some of society’s most dangerous criminals. Democratic lawmakers, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez Jr., broke into the Delaney Hall Detention Center, pursuing a bus of detainees and creating a scene that would make even the most dedicated anarchist proud.
What these valiant defenders of “justice” apparently didn’t realize – or more likely chose to ignore – is exactly who they were fighting for. According to Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, these weren’t innocent immigrants being persecuted by an overzealous system. These detainees included what she described as “murderers, terrorists, child rapists, and MS-13 gang members.” Nothing says “progressive values” quite like demanding the release of violent gang members and child predators into our communities, does it?
When Reality Doesn’t Match the Narrative
The Department of Homeland Security decided to drop some inconvenient facts about exactly who these Democrats were fighting so hard to protect. “Meet who the New Jersey lawmakers are fighting for,” DHS stated, before listing detainees including MS-13 members and individuals wanted for homicide. But why let facts get in the way of a good political stunt? Rep. LaMonica McIver, showing the left’s typical relationship with truth, claimed ICE officials “shoved” her and “manhandled” Rep. Coleman. Funny thing, though – video footage from the scene shows McIver pushing the officials, not the other way around.
“Murderers, terrorists, child rapists and MS-13 gang members.” – Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that for today’s Democratic Party, the worse someone’s criminal record, the more vigorously they will fight for them – especially if they can use it to virtue signal about “immigrant rights.” These lawmakers will literally break into federal facilities and physically confront law enforcement to defend people who have committed heinous crimes. Meanwhile, the law-abiding citizens of their districts, struggling with inflation and crime, are left wondering who exactly these elected officials are representing.
A Mayor’s Gubernatorial Campaign Strategy: Get Arrested
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, not content with merely managing his city’s numerous problems, decided that getting arrested would be a fantastic campaign strategy for his gubernatorial ambitions. U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba made it clear that Baraka wasn’t some innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. “The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center,” Habba stated, adding the revolutionary concept that “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.” Apparently, that’s news to Democrats these days.
“The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.” – U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba.
Baraka, described as a “far-left progressive,” has a political history that includes cozying up to controversial figures like Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and Louis Farrakhan. His campaign focuses on “equity in state budgeting,” which translates roughly to “taking money from some people and giving it to others.” GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli cut through the political theater, pointing out that perhaps Baraka should focus on addressing Newark’s myriad issues instead of getting himself arrested for defending criminals. Call me old-fashioned, but I remember when politicians tried to demonstrate they were tough ON crime, not advocates FOR criminals.
The Upside-Down World of Immigration Politics
We live in bizarre times when elected officials break into federal facilities to advocate for MS-13 gang members and child rapists, then claim victimhood when law enforcement does its job. If these Democrats had their way, dangerous criminals would be released into our communities with a pat on the back and probably a voter registration form. This incident perfectly encapsulates the modern Democratic approach to immigration: ignore those who follow the rules, defend those who break them, and demonize anyone who points out this insanity.
“Meet who the New Jersey lawmakers are fighting for:” – DHS.
The American people deserve to know exactly who their representatives are fighting for. In this case, it’s individuals with rap sheets that would make most citizens’ blood run cold. The next time these same politicians lecture us about “common-sense gun laws” or “sensible criminal justice reform,” remember the day they stormed a detention facility to advocate for the release of violent criminals into your neighborhood. The cognitive dissonance would be stunning if it weren’t so utterly predictable and dangerous to our communities.
