Special Recognition at Disneyland
Disneyland honored 100 U.S. Navy Sailors and Marines visiting from Los Angeles Fleet Week by providing a special experience at the theme park. Over the course of Memorial Day, these service members were offered an opportunity to enjoy the park’s prime attractions, such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Mickey’s Toontown. The festivities included a poignant flag retreat ceremony in the evening, attended by Rear Admiral Richard W. Meyer. The ceremony featured performances by the Dapper Dans and the Disneyland Band. Rear Admiral Meyer commented on the unique nature of Disneyland’s tribute, noting the special opportunity for service members to experience the park in such a meaningful way: “How many times in your life do you have the opportunity to actually get to participate in the events that are happening at Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth?”

“Disney really embraces our veterans, and it’s been part of the DNA of the Disneyland Resort,” said Ariel Elias, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Disneyland employee. This dedicated approach is reflected in both the park’s everyday operations and special events honoring military service members.

The “Heroes Work Here” program has been a significant part of their efforts since 2012, with over $20 million donated to support organizations assisting veterans and their families.
