Donald Trump Refutes Arlington Cemetery Dispute And Calls Out All Democrats For LYING
Former President Donald Trump recently participated in a wreath-laying ceremony on the three-year anniversary of a suicide bombing at an attack claimed 13 American service members killed Hamid Karzai International Airport.
In the aftermath, The New York Times was criticized for using the families of the dead service members as a political cudgel against Trump, by accusing him of politicizing their loss to attack Vice President Kamala Harris.
Reportedly, a Trump staffer yelled and shoved an official who told him they could not take photos during the ceremony.
Trump’s campaign has denied the allegations, saying those families who needed to invite Trump had given permission for the photographer to be there.
Arlington National Cemetery later confirmed that there was an incident and a report filed, but it declined to make the video or any more information available “to protect the identity of the individual involved.”
The media then attacked Trump, the New York Times published numerous articles criticizing his participation in the event and accusing him of using Gold Star families as political stage props. Headlines included:
The Gold Star families accused the Biden-Harris administration of being responsible for their deaths and spoke out in a video statement after sustained media attention over withering criticism from Harris, including reports that Vice President Kamala Harris spent some time talking to reporters last week.
Meanwhile, The New York Times is taking heat from critics who say its coverage has thrown Trump’s visit to Arlington out of proportion.
After the bombing, President Joe Biden appeared to have had limited engagement with at least a few of the families who lost loved ones — something some viewed as empathy gaps from his White House. By comparison, Gold Star families thanked Trump for spending hours at his Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey with them and ensuring those held responsible for the ordeal happen to be accountable.
Even Trump supporters who felt Biden’s eulogies were self-centered can see his visit with the families “was sincere – he was not engaging in an altruism to use their loss for political benefit,” Sanders said. Nonetheless the The New York Times persisted in presenting a version of events that critics contend was selective and misdirected, projecting upon Gold Star families motives they never alleged or deserved.
