Donald Trump Touched Audience When Saying Assassination Attempts “Hardened My Resolve”
Former President Donald Trump talked about his “encounters with death” and said the two assassination attempts on his life have only “hardened” his resolve.
“As many of you know three days ago we almost had a terrible, terrible incident,” Trump told a packed Nassau Coliseum, in reference to an event that occurred at his International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
The crowd booed as Trump said it was the second time someone had tried to hurt or kill him in a matter of only eight weeks, shouting that it was “a violent radical left-mobster.
“And God has now spared my life,” he added. “It must have been God, thank you. Not once, but twice. … These encounters with death have not broken my will. They have really given me a much bigger and stronger mission.”
“They’ve only hardened my resolve to use my time on earth to make America great again for all Americans,” Trump continued. “To put America first. We’re gonna put America first.”
When Trump announced that he aimed to carry New York, a feat no Republican presidential candidate has accomplished since 1984, the rally crowd began chanting.
The most recent assassination attempt occurred Sunday as a 58-year-old man supposedly loitering by Trump’s Florida golf course for almost 12 hours to shoot him. In Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was wounded by a bullet during a rally two months ago.
Trump also talked about the automotive industry, bemoaning what became of Detroit and Flint, regions that were once the heartbeat of American cars. He called for returning more vehicle assembly to the U.S. and said that he would levy a 200% tariff on cars built in Mexico and China if re-elected.
