Former January 6 prisoner reveals shocking prison treatment

In a recent interview on The Gateway Pundit and Blessed.News’ Inside J6 Podcast, former January 6th prisoner Ryan Samsel shared his experiences, detailing alleged abuse and coercion within the Bureau of Prisons system. This conversation comes at a significant time, as several J6 defendants remain in federal custody despite President Trump’s recent broad pardon of J6 participants.
During the podcast, Samsel described severe physical injuries he allegedly sustained, including a broken jaw and kidney damage, which he attributes to retaliatory actions after he refused to cooperate with federal agents regarding his interactions with Ray Epps moments before the initial barrier breach. Samsel, identified by his backwards red MAGA hat, was captured on video speaking with Epps moments before the initial barrier breach.
A controversy has emerged regarding the content of their interaction. While The New York Times reported that Samsel admitted Epps told him, “Relax, the cops are doing their job,” Samsel’s co-defendant James Grant recalls a different statement: “We need more people.” Video evidence appears to support Grant’s recollection, with the audio more closely matching his version of events.

What the democrats did to J6ers is anything but justice.

Samsel provided additional details about his encounter with Epps, claiming Epps also stated “and we push through this mother f’er,” though this isn’t audible in available footage. He further alleged that Epps referenced his Marine service while addressing a police officer.
Regarding the widely-discussed incident involving a female officer, Samsel offered a different perspective from the narrative presented during the J6 hearings. He maintains that the officer was positioned to the side, not directly in front of him, and that the person responsible for knocking her down with the bike rack was never apprehended. Video footage shows Samsel helping the fallen officer, who reportedly asked him to stay with her until additional officers arrived.
Samsel described a concerning interaction during his FBI interview, where he claims agents attempted to influence his characterization of Epps as “the voice of reason.” When pressed for an official statement, Samsel requested legal representation.
Ryan Samsel said Ray Epps told him “don’t pull, push” the fence on J6.
Ryan also said that the people next to him who were pushing on the gate (right in front of Caroline Edwards) were not arrested. Those are the people who need to be identified and subpoenaed.

His incarceration experience mirrors that of other J6 defendants, including Jake Lang, with extended periods in solitary confinement. Samsel also shared observations about Epps’s behavior that day, noting that Epps called out “Everyone to the front!” and “Where’s my Marines at??” He also mentioned that the bike rack barricades appeared improperly secured, lacking the standard connecting mechanisms.
At the time, Samsel says he approached the barricades intending to move closer to hear Donald Trump speak, as the president had initially planned to join the crowd at the Capitol before Secret Service advised against it.
The Gateway Pundit indicates that additional evidence from Samsel regarding both January 6th and his imprisonment will be featured in upcoming coverage.
