House Majority Leader Steve Scalise PRAISES Trump For Past Presidency And COURAGE
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) ended his address to the Republican National Convention Tuesday night talking about the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life and recalling that he nearly lost his own in a 2017 shooting.
Scalise opened by detailing the steps President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris he believes have hurt American prosperity and success before ending with what Trump would do in a second term to rectify those problems.
“I was born in New Orleans,” he said, “So I’ve seen some crazy things in my time. But New Orleans has nothing on Washington, D.C., these last four years. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have spent your tax dollars trashing America’s finances in ways no sane or sober-minded person ever would.”
After explaining what Trump would do next during a second term — which was met with loud cheers from the audience — Scalise turned back to a much more serious subject of American violence. He talked about the incident against the former President at the Pennsylvania rally and death of innocent killed Corey Comperatore.
“Lastly, I need to say something about Saturday’s attempt on President Trump’s life,” he said. “Many of you know I was the survivor of a politically motivated shooting in 2017. Not many know that while I was fighting for my life, Donald Trump was one of the first to come console my family at the hospital.”
A round of applause erupted from the crowd, with Scalise further stating: “That’s the kind of leader he is. Courageous under fire. Compassionate towards others.”
