Hunter Biden Pleads GUILTY To Save His Family From Further Shame And Embarrassment
U.S. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in Los Angeles on Thursday to nine federal charges related to tax crimes.
Hunter Biden originally pleaded not guilty and was then charged with providing material support to a terrorist group, rather than planning some form of violence. That ruling was handed down just as jury selection for his trial began, and with that halted the deal when Perry’s lawyers filed an Alford plea in federal court.
Alford pleas permit a defendant to admit that the evidence against them is strong enough for probable conviction and accept punishment, but deny guilt. Hunter Biden reportedly chose this path to prevent a trial, saying he “would not put his family through even more potential pain and ridicule after gun trial heartache in Delaware three months ago.”
The Washington Post report noted that prosecutors had planned to bring dozens of witnesses who “likely would have offered embarrassingly salacious testimony” against Hunter Biden.
The indictment of Hunter Biden also included the lavish expenses they say he incurred with dirty cash on luxury hotels, rentals, exotic cars, clothing, and more.
Hunter Biden was told by U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi that a consecutive life sentence “could be imposed” on the conspiracy charge, and warned he faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted of all charges, plus over $1 million in possible fines. He is to be sentenced in mid-December.
This guilty plea carries no bargain for mitigation of Hunter Biden’s sentence.
Separately, in a federal criminal trial related to the illegal purchase of a firearm, which took place as recently as June 2021 Hunter Biden was convicted on three felony counts. Those convictions consisted of lying to a federal firearms dealer, making false statements on form 4473 (a Federal Firearms Background Check Record) and possession/conversion fraud. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
