Reports indicate that Netanyahu’s government has initiated confidential discussions with Russian officials to help bring an end to the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon.
Hezbollah, while receiving support and weaponry from Iran, utilizes numerous Russian-made armaments. Russia’s close ties with Iran, strengthened through their drone cooperation in the Ukrainian conflict, potentially positions Moscow as an influential mediator.

According to The Times of Israel, which referenced Ynet’s reporting:
“Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer secretly visited Russia last week, Army Radio reported Sunday, in what appeared to be part of Israel’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon where it is battling the terror group Hezbollah.
Dermer then flew to Washington on Saturday night for talks with US officials, the Ynet outlet reported.”
Given Russia’s significant presence in Syria, their involvement could be crucial in establishing a diplomatic solution that prevents Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities.
The timing of these discussions may be linked to Donald Trump’s electoral success. Trump’s commitment to renewed U.S.-Russia diplomatic relations and his pledge to resolve the Lebanese conflict could have catalyzed these talks.

Coinciding with Trump’s victory, Qatar announced its decision to expel Hamas leadership from its territory. While not necessarily a direct result of Trump’s win, the timing suggests his victory may have accelerated this development.
Previous reports from Ynet also noted that Russian representatives had arrived in Israel in late October, potentially for preliminary discussions about the conflict.
