Judge blocks private messages in Blake Lively lawsuit

A judge has granted Blake Lively’s motion for a protective order, preventing “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni from disclosing sensitive information to the public.
Court documents reviewed by Page Six reveal that the protective order was issued following concerns from the former “Gossip Girl” star’s legal team about potential leaks of private communications with her celebrity friends, including videos, emails, and text messages.
The order stipulates that evidence used by both parties in court proceedings, including private photographs, videos, audio recordings, personal relationship details, and health records, will be classified as confidential and restricted to attorney access only.
The ruling includes a provision stating that documents presented during the trial may not receive confidential treatment, meaning the public could access discovery materials used in court proceedings scheduled for March 2026.
Blake Lively wants certain evidence in her lawsuit hidden—even from Justin Baldoni himself. Meanwhile, his team is saying: You made this public in the NYT & joked about it on TV. So what’s really going on here?

Lively’s representatives expressed satisfaction with the decision, stating, “The Court rejected the Wayfarer Parties’ objections and entered the protections needed to ensure the free flow of discovery material without any risk of witness intimidation or harm to any individual’s security.”
“With this order in place, Ms. Lively will move forward in the discovery process to obtain even more of the evidence that will prove her claims in Court,” they added.
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney, supported the court’s decision on limited protections while criticizing Lively’s extensive document requests. He stated his team has no interest in private mental health records and will challenge attempts to classify important information as trade secrets.

During recent court proceedings, Lively’s team expressed concerns about the potential involvement of high-profile individuals in the litigation. They argued that leaked communications could cause “irreparable harm” to celebrities uninvolved in the case.
The legal dispute began in December 2024 when Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, claiming he made inappropriate comments about her relationship with Ryan Reynolds and discussed his past struggles with pornography addiction.
Baldoni responded with a $400 million countersuit against both Lively and Reynolds in January, subsequently launching a website featuring text message exchanges with Lively. While not directly named, Taylor Swift appears to be referenced in the lawsuit as a “megacelebrity friend.”
