
Judge blocks Trump from deporting dangerous gang members

In a stunning display of judicial activism, an Obama-appointed federal judge has temporarily halted President Donald Trump’s efforts to protect American communities from dangerous foreign criminals.
Chief Judge James E. Boasberg of the U.S. District Court issued a temporary restraining order Saturday, blocking the administration’s plan to deport Venezuelan nationals, including members of violent gangs, under the long-established Alien Enemies Act.

This critical national security tool, which has given presidents the authority to remove hostile foreign nationals for generations, came under attack when progressive organizations like the ACLU and Democracy Forward filed a lawsuit known as J.G.G. v. Trump. These groups argue that employing the Alien Enemies Act during “peacetime” to remove illegal immigrants, particularly those associated with the notorious Tren de Aragua gang, exceeds presidential authority.
The ruling dismisses both constitutional provisions granting the president broad national security powers and the pressing need to remove dangerous criminals from American communities. For now, deportations are suspended for 14 days for the individuals named in the lawsuit.
The situation took an even more concerning turn when Judge Boasberg extended his ruling to require the immediate return of aircraft already transporting members of the Tren de Aragua gang, considered one of the Western Hemisphere’s most dangerous criminal organizations.

As reported by Politico, Boasberg commanded: “Any plane containing these folks that is going to take off or is in the air needs to be returned to the United States however that is accomplished. Make sure it’s complied with immediately.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi responded forcefully to the decision with a statement: “Tonight, a DC trial judge supported Tren de Aragua terrorists over the safety of Americans. TdA is represented by the ACLU. This order disregards well-established authority regarding President Trump’s power, and it puts the public and law enforcement at risk. The Department of Justice is undeterred in its efforts to work with the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and all of our partners to stop this invasion and Make America Safe Again.”
Despite this temporary setback, the Trump administration remains committed to its mission of safeguarding American citizens from foreign threats, with the nation closely monitoring these developments.
