Kamala Harris Claims Authorities Can “Walk Into Homes” To Look At Guns LEGALLY
On Tuesday, a video clip of Vice President Kamala Harris speaking when she was district attorney of San Francisco went viral for her remarks in the video. The clip has Harris saying authorities can go into homes and check for guns when they are legally owned.
Harris made the comments in a 2007 press conference, as she talked about her role in crafting a gun control law. “Responsible behaviors are going to be demanded of all members of the community, and if you’re legally in your home with a gun locked up that doesn’t mean we still aren’t going to go into that home and make sure you’re conducting yourself inside there responsibly and safely,” she said.
The legislation, which was signed into law by then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, reportedly package together a number of gun control measures.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) tweeted the unearthed video, saying Harris was “the most liberal anti-gun candidate in history,” and added that she is calling for a “mass gun confiscation.” The post said this: “Kamala Harris is talking mass gun confiscation, and she’s promising to hack the government INTO YOUR HOME so it can take your LEGALLY OWNED FIREARMS from you…”
The Trump campaign chimed in as well, calling Harris an “ANTI-GUN RADICAL.”
The clip quickly made the rounds on social media yet again, and has prompted renewed debate on gun control as Harris‘ views continue to elicit strong opinions from across the political spectrum.
