Kamala Harris Says First Official Interview Will Happen “Before The End Of The Month”
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, arrived at Philadelphia International Airport on August 6, 2024, to hold a campaign event at Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.
After many weeks of widespread speculation, Harris made it official that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, 60, would be her running mate, putting an end to the waiting.
During a brief exchange with reporters before leaving Detroit on Thursday, Harris appeared to hint at an upcoming in-depth interview.
The vice president mentioned that the interview would be “before the end of the month” as she walked away from four reporter questions.
Republicans, led by former President Donald Trump, have lately turned up the volume on their request for Harris to answer more questions and to hold a press conference. However, on Thursday, she answered questions accurately for less than two minutes as she walked away after indicating she was telling her side to arrange for a significant interview before September.
“Madame vice president, there’s been a lot of questions about when you’re going to sit down for your first interview since being the nominee …” a reporter stated.
“I’ve talked to my team; I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month,” Harris replied.
Harris was also asked about former President Trump’s statement that he had secured debates on different networks with her in September. However, Harris has confirmed only one debate on September 10th on ABC.
“I’m glad that he’s finally agreed to a debate on September 10th. I’m looking forward to it and hope he shows up,” she said.
“Are you open to more debates?” a reporter asked.
“I’m happy to have that conversation about an additional debate for after September 10th,” she responded.
However, during an hour-long news conference at Mar-a-Lago, Trump announced that he and his staff had spoken to network executives who had agreed to a debate on Fox News on September 4th, ABC on September 10th, and NBC on September 25th, only if Harris agrees.
“They may or may not agree. I don’t know,” Trump said of the Harris campaign. “She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview. She’s barely competent. She can’t do an interview, but I look forward to the debates because we have to set the record straight.”
