Meghan copies Diana’s college sweater in garden photos

Meghan Markle channeled Princess Diana’s classic style by sporting a Northwestern University sweatshirt while enjoying some leisure time in her garden.
The Duchess of Sussex shared glimpses of her weekend activities through Instagram Stories, where she captured moments of herself tending to plants and engaging in garden maintenance.
“A small break from work to soak in the weekend ☀️,” the Duchess wrote alongside footage of her outdoor activities.
The Northwestern alumna, who studied at the Illinois institution between 1999 and 2003, appeared in one of the clips wearing a distinctive purple sweatshirt emblazoned with the university’s name in white lettering.
The Brit media and #MeghanMarkle haters are as stupid as they're deranged. Meghan actually attended Northwestern and graduated in 2003 with two degrees. Diana got her shirt as a souvenir when she visited in 1996, not in 2000 as they're suggesting, as she died in 1997. 🤦♀️ pic.twitter.com/ohA17VNm9l

This fashion choice mirrors a similar garment worn by Princess Diana in 1996. The late Princess of Wales received the Northwestern sweatshirt in 1995 after visiting the university’s campus for a cancer center fundraising event.
Diana was photographed wearing the identical purple sweatshirt, paired with white cycling shorts, sneakers, and a Gucci handbag, while departing London’s Chelsea Harbour Club the following year. She tragically passed away in a Paris car accident in August 1997.
The 43-year-old Duchess has frequently incorporated elements of Diana’s style into her wardrobe. During the Salute to Freedom Gala in November 2021, she accessorized with Diana’s Cartier diamond tennis bracelet while accompanying Prince Harry, 40.

More recently, during a Colombian visit with Harry last August, Markle donned the same gold butterfly earrings that Diana wore in 1986.
This latest social media appearance follows recent developments with Markle’s company rebranding to “As Ever,” which has encountered some challenges. A Spanish politician is contemplating legal action over alleged similarities between the company’s logo and a Spanish coat of arms. Additionally, the owner of a New York-based clothing brand sharing the same name has indicated he won’t alter his company’s name and is “exploring all possibilities.”
