The new Defense Secretary was welcomed at the Pentagon entrance by Air Force General C.Q. Brown, the highest-ranking U.S. military official, whom Hegseth had previously criticized in his recent publication. When questioned about the possibility of dismissing Brown, Hegseth made light of the situation by referencing the general’s nearby presence.
