PA Governor tells Democrats: Accept Senate race results

In a significant development, Pennsylvania’s Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro has called for an end to Democratic attempts to overturn the Senate election results favoring Republicans.

Despite multiple networks and election experts declaring the race concluded, Democratic Senator Bob Casey, an 18-year incumbent, continues to contest the outcome against Republican Dave McCormick.

The situation intensified when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court mandated on Monday that all 67 counties must follow their previous directive to exclude undated or incorrectly dated ballots from the count, responding to Democratic efforts to include contested ballots.

Breaking his previous silence on the matter, Shapiro issued a comprehensive statement addressing the election dispute:

Shapiro’s stance, coming after being overlooked as Kamala Harris’s potential running mate, appears to signal his positioning for a possible 2028 presidential campaign.

His statement seemingly diminishes Casey’s prospects of retaining the seat, suggesting a loss of crucial Democratic support in his attempt to challenge McCormick’s victory.

While Casey’s success remains a possibility, Senator Mike Lee of Utah has proposed a contingency plan. Lee, known for his constitutional expertise, suggested on X that the Senate could deny Casey’s seating.

“If Bob Casey doesn’t concede, Pennsylvania keeps counting illegal votes, [and] Casey relies on those votes to claim victory, the Senate could refuse to seat him,” Lee stated, referencing the constitutional provision that “Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members.”
