Prince Harry And Prince William Didn’t Interact At Recent Uncle’s Funeral
This week, the once and future prince reportedly also attended the funeral held for an uncle of his and Prince William’s, surprising many since it was assumed Harry would sit this one out.
The Post reports that Harry on Wednesday went to the service for Lord Robert Fellowes at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk. Lord Fellowes, who is married to their late mother Diana, Princess of Wales’ sister Lady Jane Spencer lived in Norfolk.
A source told The Post Prince Harry went “in a personal capacity,” and stayed only briefly. He came to the service and left soon thereafter.
Even though it was a rare sighting of the two brothers together, not much seems to have thawed in their relationship.
“William and Harry were both there but we never saw them say a word to each other all day,” one Norfolk local said, “They were keeping well apart.”
Like this attendee: “They were there?” They came in very, very quietly.”
But it was a good sign for some to see Harry and William together. A close family friend told The Sun: “We’re absolutely thrilled both princes were there.”
Harry’s attendance was a surprise as it had been thought he would miss the service because of security concerns. The Duke has previously shared fears over his safety when he is in Britain as a result of the continuing legal battles surrounding security provided by British authorities since he resigned from senior royal status last January.
Lord Fellowes died on July 29 at age 82. The cause of death is unknown. He joined the Royal Household in 1977 and wed Lady Jane Spencer a year later. Diana, then the Princess of Wales married Prince Charles in 1981.
He would later become Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II from 1990 to 1999, as Lord Fellowes. And in August 1997, one that took the life of Diana.
