The College Republicans of America extended an invitation to Barron Trump following the resignation of the New York University chapter president, who faced criticism for describing him as an “oddity on campus” during a magazine interview.

Will Donahue, the organization’s national president, expressed enthusiasm about potentially welcoming the former president’s youngest son. “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,” Donahue stated. “Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility — qualities that Barron has already demonstrated.”

The controversy began when Kaya Walker, an international relations and French major, made comments about the 19-year-old Trump in a Vanity Fair profile exploring his campus life. Walker noted that Barron Trump “sort of like an oddity on campus. He goes to class, he goes home.” She also mentioned a professor’s jest about Barron “not really belonging” at the institution.

Reports indicate that the six-foot-nine freshman maintains a low profile at the Greenwich Village campus, primarily engaging with classmates through video games and soccer. While there are rumors about his popularity with female students, his father has indicated that Barron hasn’t dated yet.

The College Republicans of America promptly addressed Walker’s remarks, accepting her resignation on Sunday. The organization acknowledged that Vanity Fair may have presented her comments unfavorably but maintained that her statements were inappropriate and inconsistent with their values.

Fellow students have shared insights about Barron’s campus presence with TMZ, describing him as someone who keeps to himself, typically choosing seats at the back of classrooms and departing swiftly to waiting vehicles after classes. Despite his reserved nature, classmates characterize him as approachable and pleasant.

Although constantly accompanied by Secret Service personnel, Barron has shown interest in connecting with peers through gaming platforms. According to TMZ, he has been reaching out to classmates for their Discord usernames to participate in online gaming sessions.

While Barron Trump has historically maintained privacy, his recent appearances at his father’s events, including the inauguration, have garnered increased public attention and social media interest.
