America’s Hidden Crisis

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is sounding the alarm on a crisis hiding in plain sight across America. During a recent podcast interview with Shawn Ryan, Tebow shattered the common misconception that child sex trafficking primarily occurs in distant countries. Armed with disturbing Department of Justice data, he presented evidence showing that this evil permeates U.S. neighborhoods, communities, and even families. The statistics paint a grim picture of exploitation happening right in our own backyards, often perpetrated by individuals known to the victims rather than stereotypical strangers.

“People will say, ‘That’s just over there, and it’s in those countries and all of those places,’ It’s not. It’s happening in our country, in our neighborhoods, in our backyards, (and) in our families.” – Tim Tebow.

Perhaps most shocking was Tebow’s presentation of a DOJ map dotted with red marks representing unique IP addresses involved in distributing child sexual abuse materials within the last month. The map revealed over 111,000 distinct sources across the United States actively sharing horrific content featuring children under 12. These numbers don’t even account for livestreaming abuse, “sextortion,” grooming, or other related crimes that further victimize children across the country.

The Disturbing Reality Behind the Numbers

The statistics Tebow shared during the interview paint an even more disturbing picture of the scope of abuse. Between 55% and 85% of those caught viewing child sexual abuse materials online are also “hands-on” offenders – meaning they physically abuse children themselves. Each offender averages 13 victims throughout their lifetime. Contrary to public perception, the primary perpetrators are often middle-aged Caucasian men with college degrees, and many are the biological fathers of their victims.

“This is over the last 30 days, Every red dot on that map is at least one unique IP address of individuals downloading, sharing, distributing child abuse and rape images under the age of 12.” – Tim Tebow.

Tebow also revealed the United States’ troubling global standing in this criminal enterprise. America ranks as the number one country worldwide in paying for livestreamed child rape and stands third in peer-to-peer sharing of illegal content. This places the U.S. at the center of a multibillion-dollar industry built on the exploitation of society’s most vulnerable members. The overwhelming scale of the problem has left law enforcement agencies woefully under-resourced to effectively combat this epidemic.

Taking Action Through the Tim Tebow Foundation

In response to this crisis, Tebow launched a campaign in 2023 through his foundation to rescue children from sexual abuse and exploitation. The Tim Tebow Foundation’s mission centers on bringing faith, hope, and love to those enduring their darkest times. With a focus on anti-human trafficking, the foundation works across three critical areas: prevention, rescue, and survivor care. Their efforts have already produced tangible results in communities around the world.

“In the United States, a majority of child abductions happen by people they know, not by strangers in white vans offering “free candy.”” – Tim Tebow Foundation.

The foundation has contributed to several successful operations, including locating 71 missing children in New York, identifying 386 victims of child sexual exploitation, and a major rescue operation in Bangkok that identified 50 exploited children. They’ve established a campus in Uganda to provide a safe haven for trafficking survivors and conducted training in Brazil that led to identifying 12 victims seen in abuse materials. Currently, they’re supporting the Renewed Hope Act of 2024, which aims to rescue 50,000 unidentified child victims.

A Call for National Response

Tebow has called for urgent congressional action and increased resources for law enforcement to effectively combat this crisis. He emphasized that this is not a partisan issue but a moral imperative that requires unified action from all Americans. The foundation’s “Operation Renewed Hope II” continues efforts to identify and rescue over 50,000 unidentified child victims currently suffering in silence. Tebow’s use of his public platform aims to inspire greater awareness and mobilize resources to make a meaningful global impact.

“Fifty-five to 85 percent (55% to 85%) are also ‘hands on’ offenders, and your average offender has 13 victims in their lifetime.” – Tim Tebow.

The foundation’s approach recognizes that protecting America’s children requires both intervention and prevention strategies. By sharing insights from the 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report and highlighting the global impact of human trafficking, Tebow hopes to build a coalition of concerned citizens willing to take a stand against these crimes. His foundation exemplifies how determined leadership can make a difference in the fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
