Tesla Manhattan Showroom Still Open Despite Online Rumors

A Tesla Manhattan showroom has not permanently closed, despite a viral social media claim suggesting otherwise. The false information gained significant traction on Threads, accumulating over 20,000 likes.

When contacted directly, a Tesla Advisor at the Manhattan location firmly refuted the closure rumors. “We’re not closed. We are open every day,” the representative stated to Lead Stories during their fact-checking investigation.

The Manhattan showroom, situated at 860 Washington St in Manhattan, continues its regular operations. No credible news sources have reported any permanent closure, and neither Tesla’s official communications nor CEO Elon Musk’s social media accounts have mentioned such a development.

While the showroom remains open, Tesla owners in New York City face different challenges. The New York Post reports that private parking garages are implementing additional charges of up to $1,000 monthly for Tesla vehicles. According to Kyle Halperin, president of Wynne Parking, these fees stem from “a risk analysis” considering factors like “value and weight.”

Recently, the Manhattan showroom did make headlines, but not for closing. The New York Daily News reported that six individuals were arrested during a protest at the location. The demonstration targeted Musk’s leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The viral Threads post simply stated “TESLA Manhattan closed permanently!” without providing any supporting evidence or sources to validate the claim. After thorough investigation, including keyword searches and direct communication with the showroom, this claim has been definitively proven false.
