Trans Actor Criticizes Trump’s New Healthcare Rules

Lavern Cox, transgender actor and star of Amazon Prime Video’s new comedy *Clean Slate*, expressed concerns about America’s current direction and called for collective action against President Donald Trump’s recent executive order limiting gender transition procedures for minors.
During an appearance on *CBS Morning*, Cox responded to co-host Adriana Diaz’s question about the Trump administration’s stance on transgender rights. “This is not the first time trans identity has been criminalized in this country. And we found a way to survive, sometimes even thrive,” Cox stated. She emphasized that “Ultimately, if we’re going to fight this, we need a movement of working people […] rising up.”
My latest article explores the career of perhaps the worst actor on the planet: Laverne Cox. He promoted misogynistic trans lobby policies but luckily his career is running out of steam. Why was this deluded gay man ever taken seriously?

The controversy stems from Trump’s recently issued executive order, “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” which has sparked significant debate. The order, released on January 28, explicitly states: “It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.”
The policy prompted protests in New York City, where notable figures like *Sex and the City* actress Cynthia Nixon joined the demonstrations. Nixon, identifying herself as the “mother of a proud trans man,” shared that her “trans kid had his surgery at NYU a number of years ago.” Addressing the gathered protesters, Nixon declared, “It’s so hard to know we’re being attacked on so many fronts. It is so hard to know where and how to react first. But today I know. This is where I’m planting my flag.”

Despite the vocal opposition from activists and celebrities, multiple surveys indicate that most Americans support restrictions on transgender-related medical procedures for minors, including surgeries, hormone therapy, and puberty blockers.
