In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, he pointed the finger squarely at Harris, labeling her as “Comrade Kamala Harris” and calling her weak and ineffective in handling the situation.
Trump’s post made it clear that he believes the crisis could have been avoided under his leadership. “The Hostage Crisis in Israel is only taking place because Comrade Kamala Harris is weak and ineffective, and has no idea what she’s doing,” Trump wrote.
He went on to criticize President Joe Biden, who was on vacation at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, during the crisis, accusing him of failing to act decisively.
As he wrote, “I look forward to seeing her at the Debate! Biden failed, and now he spends his day on the beach, plotting and scheming how to take out his once Political Opponent, ME, who took him out both at the Debate, and otherwise. THE OCTOBER 7th ISRAELI CRISIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE PRESIDENT.”
Trump’s remarks come after reports that Harris, along with Biden, had discouraged Israel from entering Rafah, a town in Gaza where Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages were tragically found dead in a Hamas tunnel.
Autopsies later revealed that the hostages had been alive until very recently, only to be executed to prevent their rescue by Israeli soldiers. Critics speculated that had Israel entered Rafah sooner, the hostages might have been saved.
Meanwhile, Biden claimed to have worked tirelessly to secure Goldberg-Polin’s release, all while on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Trump has long laid the broader crisis sparked by the Oct. 7 attack on Israel at the feet of the current administration, stating that such a disaster would never have occurred under his administration. He highlighted the peace and stability that marked his presidency, particularly the lack of wars between Israel and its neighbors and the historic Abraham Accords peace agreement, which he brokered between Israel and several Arab states.
