Trump ENDORSES A Future CRYPTO NATION – Millions Extend Support
Former President Donald Trump has spoken at the world’s largest crypto event as part of his attempt to cast himself as the presidential candidate who will save an embattled industry from a US federal crackdown.
Addressing a crowd of over 10,000 at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville on Thursday, the Republican presidential nominee committed that the “United States will be the crypto capital of the planet and the Bitcoin superpower of the world” if he’s elected to a second White House term.
“If Bitcoin is going to the Moon — as we say — it’s going to the Moon, I want America to be the nation that leads the way,” said Trump, insisting the digital currency’s value could surpass that of gold under his leadership.
The former president also vowed to put a halt to what he called President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ “war on crypto” as well as fire Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler, who is leading efforts at the agency for broader digital currency oversight.
“For three and a half years, the current administration has waged a war on crypto and Bitcoin like nobody’s ever seen before,” he said.
Trump also said he would form a Bitcoin and crypto presidential advisory council to oversee the industry — with new regulations put in place by people “who know its companies, but won´t want it getting fed on.”
His initial remarks on the crypto market seemed to have changed. In 2019, Trump said, “We have only one real currency in the USA, and it is stronger than ever. It is called the United States Dollar!”
Senator JD Vance (R-OH) has also proposed and backed crypto-friendly legislation.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris is reported as still needing more knowledge of crypto in order to determine its effectiveness in the nation.
