Trump lawyer won’t be White House press secretary

Former Trump attorney Alina Habba has definitively ruled out becoming the next White House press secretary, addressing widespread speculation about her potential appointment to the role.
Taking to X on Thursday, the 40-year-old attorney stated, “While I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of Press Secretary is not a role I am considering.” She added with humor, “Although I love screaming from a podium I will be better served in other capacities.”

Her announcement came shortly after expressing enthusiasm about the incoming administration, declaring, “This administration is going to be epic! So proud of the Trump team, the latest appointments and 47!”
The clarification follows Habba’s recent Fox News appearance, where she told Sean Hannity she would “very seriously” consider the position, noting that any decision would involve consulting her three children – Luke, Chloe, and Parker. During that interview, she remained tight-lipped about potential discussions with the Trump-Vance transition team.
“They are killing it on all fronts … It’s time to have advocacy for ‘America First,’ and whatever that looks like for President Trump and his team, I trust it. It’s a decision for all of them to make. Not me,” she told the outlet.

Habba, who established Habba Madaio & Associates in New Jersey, has been part of Trump’s legal team since 2021, handling significant cases including E. Jean Carroll’s defamation lawsuit and the civil fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The position of press secretary remains unfilled, following the tenures of Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany during Trump’s previous administration.
