Viral claim of Maxwell’s death proven false

A recent viral post on X falsely claimed that Ghislaine Maxwell had died in prison. The claim, which initially gained traction due to its connection to a 4chan post, was quickly debunked.

The British socialite, who received a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and conspiring to abuse minors, remains alive at FCI Tallahassee, a low-security facility. Her imprisonment followed her close association with Jeffrey Epstein, the controversial financier who had connections to prominent figures like Bill Clinton and Bill Gates.

The social media post attempted to draw parallels with Epstein’s death, referencing how 4chan had previously reported his death while in custody. Epstein’s death, officially ruled a suicide, continues to spark speculation about potential foul play.

Investigation into the viral claim revealed its falsehood through an inmate search conducted by Check Your Fact on November 15th, confirming Maxwell’s continued incarceration. The situation was further clarified when the anonymous original poster admitted the post was a “larp” – a term Merriam-Webster defines as acting out a fictional scenario.

Maxwell, whose recent appeal was dismissed by a Manhattan judge who deemed her sentence “procedurally reasonable,” is scheduled for release in July 2037. She currently remains at FCI Tallahassee, a facility known for offering various inmate activities.
