Biden To Expand Health Coverage To Some Illegal Aliens

The Biden administration is planning to expand health care coverage for some illegal aliens according to a proposed plan. The news came amid increasing criticism of the administration after the entry of more than seven million illegal immigrants since President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

The Biden administration issued an order Friday to allow federal health care coverage for those brought into the country through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) created by former President Barack Obama. DACA allowed for more than one million illegal aliens brought into the country as children to remain in the United States without an act of Congress.

Overall, the plan could cost taxpayers almost $5,000 per illegal alien, which could ultimately raise total healthcare spending for the group to almost $3 million.

“I’m proud of the contributions of Dreamers to our country and committed to providing Dreamers the support they need to succeed. That’s why I’ve previously directed the Department of Homeland Security to take all appropriate actions to “preserve and fortify” DACA.”

“And that’s why today we are taking this historic step to ensure that DACA recipients have the same access to health care through the Affordable Care Act as their neighbors,” said Biden.

The president has attempted to expand healthcare coverage for illegal aliens since last year. The administration used $2 billion for healthcare for migrant youths and their illegal immigrant parents in 2021.

Obama said in the 2012 State of the Union address that illegal aliens would not be eligible for Obamacare.

The proposed plan came after a video emerged of migrants arriving at Newport Beach, California and coming ashore.

Among the seven million illegal immigrants believed to have entered the country in the last three years were three million attempted entries in 2023. The total last year was the highest number on record. Furthermore, December 2023 saw the number of attempted migrants entering the country exceeding 300,000 for the first time.
