Dem Candidate Says Biden Report Hands Election To Trump

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, said in a recent interview that special counsel Robert Hur’s recent report will likely hand the 2024 election to former President Donald Trump.

Phillips said that the special counsel’s report “all but handed the 2024 election to Trump.” Phillips is seeking the nomination for president but lost the New Hampshire primary to him despite Biden not appearing on the ballot.

The representative expressed admiration for the president, but said that the report “simply affirms what most Americans already know, that the President cannot continue to serve as our Commander-in-Chief beyond his term ending Jan. 20, 2025.”

Phillips said that Biden was “already facing the lowest approval numbers in modern history and losing in each of the key battleground states.” He added that if Biden was the nominee, Trump would win and invited “fellow Democrats to face the truth.”

The candidate called the report and its findings a “sad day” for the country.

Phillips made the comments after Hur released a report related to Biden’s retention of classified documents. The special counsel indicated that the president had significant memory issues, in part leading to the decision not to charge him with a crime.

Hur indicated that if a case was brought to trial, “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Following the release of the report, Biden spoke to members of the media and asserted that he had no mental or memory lapses. However, the president appeared unsteady in his statements and following a question about the conflict in the Middle East, confused the countries of Mexico and Egypt.

Despite the current issues, the White House denies any indication of the president’s mental decline. The administration also canceled the traditional Super Bowl interview of the president this Sunday for the second straight year.
