Omar’s Daughter Claims ‘Chemical Weapons’ Used At Protest

The daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said this week that she was subjected to chemical weapons during the large anti-Israel student protests at Columbia University last week. The statements by Isra Hirsi come as thousands of students at a number of colleges protested and created tent cities on campus.

Hirsi said during an MSNBC interview that she claimed to be “100% targeted.”

“Every single protest that we have, there’s a group of counterprotesters that bring all of their items, their flags and things like that. And they’re not seen as having unsanctioned protests or really receiving the kind of disciplinary warnings that many of our fellow organizers receive just for being seen at these protests,” she said.

Omar’s daughter claimed that the protesters were sprayed with a “chemical weapon.”

The college did not use pepper spray or tear gas at the protest. Instead, one student was suspended for using a gag device that emits a smelly odor.

The student is suing the college for the suspension and called his use of the device a “harmless expression of speech.”

Omar praised her daughter on social media, framing her as an activist and writing that she was proud of her.

Following the arrest a number of news stories with sympathetic tones were released, framing Omar’s daughter as a victim.

Hirsi claimed that she was homeless after being removed from her dorm room. The student is currently attending a $90,000 per year university.

“I was a little bit frantic, like, where am I going to sleep? Where am I gonna go?” she asked.

She cited her possessions being removed from the room, which she said was “pretty horrible. Hirsi said that she only had “four shirts” and “two pairs of pants” and was not sure she could ever return home.

Columbia as an Ivy League school is one of the most expensive in the country and regularly draws from much of the upper-income of American society.
