Trump Calls For Special Counsel’s Arrest
Former President Donald Trump called for the arrest of special counsel Jack Smith amid new revelations from one of the criminal charges against him. The former president’s comments came as two cases brought by Smith against him are set to start later this year.
Trump argued on social media that the special counsel’s office had mishandled the information against him regarding the alleged retention of classified documents.
The former president cited a recent court filing in which Smith’s office stated that “there are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans” despite earlier assertions that the boxes were “in their original, intact form as seized.”

“Now, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida – That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case,” Trump wrote on social media.
“These deeply Illegal actions by the Politicized ‘Persecutors’ mandate that this whole Witch Hunt be DROPPED IMMEDIATELY. END THE ‘BOXES HOAXES.’ MAGA2024!” said the former president.
“ARREST DERANGED JACK SMITH. HE IS A CRIMINAL!” he wrote.
The new information stems from the seizure of 33 boxes of documents from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. The former president denies any wrongdoing in the case while Smith’s office brought about 40 felony counts against the former president.
Trump has been accused of violating the Espionage Act and allegedly attempting to obstruct justice.
Despite the charges, Trump stated that the case against him is an example of “Election Interference.” The former president levied similar accusations regarding the charges against him in New York which are currently in trial.
In addition, Judge Aileen Cannon unsealed a significant number of documents in the case, showing that the White House Office of Records Management requested information from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regarding possible documents Trump may have in 2021.
