Pence ‘Done’ Says Ex-Representative
Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) said that former Vice President Mike Pence’s career was “done” after not endorsing former President Donald Trump last week. The comment from a common Trump critic coincided with considerable criticism of the former vice president for not supporting his former running mate.
Walsh said that Republicans who “publicly oppose” Trump are “done.”
“When I came out six years ago and publicly stood against Donald Trump, I took a blowtorch to my career, but I also knew I could never, ever run as a Republican again. Mike Pence today just did that,” said Walsh.
Walsh also said that Pence was likely “closing the door on running as a Republican.”
He said that the party “is not gonna change. This will never be Mike Pence’s Republican or Joe Walsh’s Republican Party again.”
Since serving as a Republican member of Congress and a former supporter of the former president, Walsh has emerged as a prominent social media critic of Trump. Walsh has gone so far as to endorse President Joe Biden.
He also ran a brief campaign for president in 2020.
When asked about whether he would support the former president, Pence said that it “should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year. Look, I’m incredibly proud of the record of our administration. It was a conservative record that made America more prosperous, more secure and saw conservatives appointed to our courts in a more peaceful world.”

“That being said, during my presidential campaign, I made it clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues, not just our difference on my constitutional duties that I exercised on Jan. 6,” said Pence. “As I have watched his candidacy unfold, I’ve seen him walking away from our commitment to confronting the national debt. I’ve seen him starting to shy away from a commitment to the sanctity of human life.”
Pence also said that he would not support Biden for president.
