‘Squad’ Member Under Investigation Blames ‘Sexist’ Attacks

Rep. Cori Bush (R-MO) said that the criticism regarding the ongoing investigation into whether or not she misused taxpayer dollars to pay her husband was due to sexism from conservatives. The socialist member of the ‘Squad’ in the House of Representatives denied any wrongdoing after evidence of tens of thousands of dollars in payments was uncovered.

Bush was asked a question from cable news host Joy Reid about the ongoing federal investigation into her use of public funds.

Bush said that the investigation was made based on a complaint and “because, you know, nothing had happened, they didn’t see any movement, they decided, there are articles about it, they decided, ‘Hey, I want the DOJ, I want House ethics, I want all of these different entities to investigate now.’ So they did at one time, just asked all of these different entities to investigate.”

Bush made the comments during an MSNBC interview, specifically condemning the comments of Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX).

Bush’s response was to Nehl’s comments stating that Bush, a fervent supporter of the ‘Defund the Police’ movement “doesn’t even support the police.”

Nehls then said that “the idea to pay her thug money to try to help protect her for? What if she wouldn’t be so loud all the time maybe she wouldn’t be getting threats.”

Nehls then said that she did not deserve threats following a question from a reporter. He added that “when you are out there talking the way she does, I’m surprised that people are probably pretty upset because she’s a pretty radical person. And maybe should donate down a little bit.”

Bush called the comments “absolutely ignorant, anti-Black” and using “racist and sexist tropes.” “or him to spew something so disgusting, to call my husband my thug?”

“What qualifies him as a thug? What does he know about him to call him a thug? That is a dog whistle,” she added.

She then asked if she was being “too loud.”

Bush is under investigation for allegedly paying her husband at least $60,000 for security services.
