Trump Endorses Boebert

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) this week as the representative faces a primary election in a new Colorado congressional district. The former president’s nod came after Boebert decided to run in a new district in the 2024 race.

The former president wrote on social media that Boebert was a “Proven Conservative and Effective Leader who delivers for Colorado, and our America First agenda.”

“Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a trusted America First Fighter, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District,” he said.

The former president wrote that Boebert had “led the fight to Impeach Joe Biden, Stop Illegal Immigration, Defend the Second Amendment, Protect our Wonderful Ranchers and Farmers, Support our Military and Veterans, Secure our Natural Resources to Pursue Energy Dominance and Stand Up to the Radical Democrats who want to Destroy our Beautiful Country.”

“It’s my honor to have the endorsement of the greatest President our country has ever known – Donald J. Trump,” Boebert wrote on social media following the endorsement.

“It will be such a privilege to work alongside him in 2024 to deliver results for Colorado & get the entire country back on track!” she said.

Boebert switched districts after Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) announced that he would not seek another term in the House. Boebert’s departure takes her out of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.

In the 2022 election in the 3rd Congressional District, Boebert’s race was significantly closer than expected.

Buck’s 4th District votes significantly more Republican than Boebert’s current district. In 2020, Trump carried the district by 16%, while Buck won reelection there two years ago by 24%.

Trump’s endorsement may be necessary to carry Boebert to the Republican nomination. In a recent poll in her potentially new district, she ranked in fifth place.

According to a straw poll taken after a Republican primary debate in January, Boebert received less than 10%. Her total ranked fifth out of ten total candidates.

Following the debate, Boebert’s campaign said that the straw poll was of “no concern and doesn’t provide a realistic snapshot of the district.”

Boebert has been one of the most steadfast defenders of the former president.
