Trump Says Biden ‘Unfit To Serve’

Former President Donald Trump told an audience this weekend that if the allegations in special counsel Robert Hur’s report about President Joe Biden retaining sensitive documents are true, then he is unable to discharge his duties in the White House. Trump’s comments came just days after Hur released a report that did not charge Biden in part because of reported significant memory loss.

During a campaign event in South Carolina, Trump told the crowd that Hur’s report “tries to let Biden off by claiming that he is too mentally incompetent to convict at a trial.”

“’I’m not going to charge him with a crime, but it’s okay for him to become Commander in Chief’ – think of that one,” Trump added.

The former president said that Biden got off “scot-free.” He added that should Biden actually be too mentally unfit to stand trial that he was also too mentally unfit to serve in office.

Hur’s report stated that Biden had “willfully” taken classified material, some of which wound up in his garage. However, Hur said that if the case went to trial “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

The special counsel also cited a number of concerns about the president’s memory in his decision not to press charges. According to the report, Biden struggled to remember when he was vice president and when his son Beau Biden died.

Following the release of the report Thursday the president held a press event, in which he asserted that his memory was fine. During the same event, the president accidentally confused Egypt with Mexico.

Trump is not the only major figure to call for the White House to make a major change. Republicans and Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) have all said that Biden arguably lacks the mental sharpness to be president.

Some have called for him to step down. Others, including Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), called for the presidential Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to hand over power to Vice President Kamala Harris. There have also been other calls for Biden not to seek another full term.

At 81, Biden is the oldest president in American history. Should he win another term, he would leave office at 86 years old.
